Calculator ASTM D1250 · API MPMS 11.1

Volume Correction Factor (VCF) Calculator

Correct lubricant volume and density between an observed temperature and the 60 °F (15.56 °C) reference, per API MPMS 11.1 / ASTM D1250.

Inputs
g/cm³

Lubricating-oil range ≈ 0.801–1.164 g/cm³.

°C
Correction to 60 °F

Enter base density and
observed temperature.

Formula & Methodology (API MPMS 11.1 — lubricating oils)
Thermal expansion factor at 60 °F (lubricating-oil group): α60 = K1 ÷ ρ60 with K1 = 0.34878, ρ60 in kg/m³ Volume Correction Factor (CTL): ΔT = T_observed(°F) − 60 CTL = exp[ −α60 · ΔT · (1 + 0.8 · α60 · ΔT) ] density at T = ρ60 × CTL volume at T = volume @ 60 °F ÷ CTL

API MPMS 11.1 lubricating-oil constants K0=0, K1=0.34878, K2=0; valid for base density ≈ 0.801–1.164 g/cm³. Custody-transfer measurement applies the standard's temperature/density rounding procedure.
