Calculator ASTM D7152

Blend Ratio Calculator

Find the volume ratio of two oils needed to hit a target kinematic viscosity — the inverse of the ASTM D7152 blend.

Components (same temperature)
cSt
cSt
Target
cSt

Target must lie between the Oil A and Oil B viscosities.

Required Blend Ratio

Enter both oil viscosities
and a target.

Formula & Methodology (ASTM D7152, inverse)
Walther transform: W(v) = log10( log10( v + 0.7 ) ) For a target viscosity v_T with components A and B measured at the same temperature: x_A = ( W(v_T) − W(v_B) ) ÷ ( W(v_A) − W(v_B) ) x_B = 1 − x_A Results are the volume fraction of each oil (0–100%).

Both viscosities must be at the same temperature, and the target must fall between the two component viscosities. Accuracy ≈ ±5% for petroleum oils.
